“He never met a stranger and he was never at a loss for words” Michael was born 52 years ago at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, CA. He grew up in Carmichael, CA and attended Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School, Winston Churchill Middle School and La Sierra High School where he graduated in 1976. He attended American River College before getting married to his high school sweetheart, Linda Montalvo in 1979. Together they attended U.C. Berkeley where he graduated in 1983 with a degree in Political Science. During this time, he worked at the Lawrence Hall of Science and then joined the Army Reserves from 1985 to 1993. In 1988, Elizabeth Mary Carbone was born and in 1990, the three Carbones’ moved to Spokane, WA so that Michael could attend Gonzaga Law School where he graduated in 1993. Michael practiced criminal law in Spokane and Newport, WA for the past 15 years. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney for Pend Oreille County for most of his legal career. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2008, Michael kept working for as long as possible before relocating to Sacramento in November 2009 to be near his extended family. Michael is survived by his wife, Linda and his daughter, Elizabeth and her fiancé, Tatsuya Igarashi; his parents Peter and Mary Carbone; his sisters and brothers-in-law Terrie and Greg Makin and Toni and Virgil Howe. He is also survived by his Aunt Gene Carbone; his in-laws Elizabeth, Arlene and Mark Montalvo; and cousins, nieces, nephews and in his own words "various other in-laws and out-laws". |
